Pultrusion is a manufacturing process used for the production of fiber reinforced plastic composites , which we normally call it FRP . This process combines many elements effectively which offer a mix of properities and characteristics that can boost efficiency of the final product. It is an automated , highly productive process of fabrication of composites in form of continuous long products of cross-section .
Unlike other processes , pultrusion enables continuous production in a low-labour process that uses a heated die to give any shape to the composite parts.

hIGH STRENGTH
High strength to weight ratio is also known as specific strength , similar to the stiffness to weight ratio. Carbon fiber profiles are strong yet lightweight, making them ideal for applications where weight reduction is crucial.
HIGH STIFFNESS
Carbon fiber does extremely well in the stiffness factor , it's about 3 times stiffer than steel and aluminum for a given weight. Manufactured with 100% undirectional fibers makes pultruded tubes with the best longitudinal stiffness .
tHICKNESS CUSTOMIZATION
Inner diameter of a pultruded tube is determined by a mandrel , which is easy to exchange for a different size , this makes it easily to produce tubes with various thickness .
Process Description
The Pultrusion process is a highly automated continuous fibre laminating process, producing high fibre volume profiles with a constant cross section. Having a high fibre volume fraction makes pultrusion an ideal process for structural component production giving a high strength to weight ratio.
The process starts with the support of the reinforcements, and they can be glass, carbon or aramid. The material is pulled into the infeed area,then the impregnated reinforcement is pulled into the heated pultrusion die, and it is accurately formed to the required shape. From the puller units the profile passes into the flying cut off saw where it is cut to the required length.
The advantage of pultruded process is that it produces a continuous, unidirectional length of tubing that can be cut to size after curing. Since pultrusion is highly automated, it’s a much more cost-effective production process than both roll wrapping or filament winding. Pultrusion makes it easy to produce tubing in various lengths and thicknesses simply by changing up both mandrel and die.
