Students at an Austrian university of technology have independently developed a drone. Compared with traditional drone models on the market, the newly developed drone structural parts are 40% lighter in weight. The project manager explained that the overall weight of the design (including unit and battery) has been reduced by 10% compared to the reference model, purely due to the intelligent use of construction materials.
The dedicated student also emphasized that this innovative flyer was created purely out of fascination with the material and not as a required study item. The drone has now successfully completed its maiden flight.
Traditional drones are assembled from a large number of connecting elements, which we were able to do away with completely". Designed as a camera drone, this model is also entirely made of carbon fiber - an ideal and proven lightweight Material.
